Hello, my name is Stephen and welcome to my web site.
I live in the beautiful South Lincolnshire countryside surrounded by open fields and glorious sunsets. We have river banks full of kingfishers and heron, not to mention the barn owls, hare and pigeons. Nearby is the market town of Spalding - famous for its flowers and produce.
My love of Basset hounds started when, as a family, we got our first basset pet. He was called Bertie Basset - not the most original name! His proper name was Brandydale Columbo - a son of the famous Ch. Langpool Carries Lad of Islwlyn. He was adored for 14 years and left a massive hole when he left us.
This love affair with the breed has continued and I have now been involved with Basset Hounds for the last 29 yrs. I have taken my love for this beautiful breed further and now enjoy showing my hounds at Open and Championship show level. I have recently started to judge and am keen to develop my experience further with more judging appointments in the future.
To date I have been luckily enough to have bred two Champions from my first litter - Ch. Roamanbay Rainbows End and Ned Ch. Roamanbay Ringmaster
More recently I made up my first Champion with the stunningly elegant Dereheath Chica at Roamanbay - my warmest thanks go to Derek and Heather of the famous Dereheath kennel for letting me have such a beautiful princess.
In March 2007 I fell for the charms of two furry faced little monkeys - cunningly disguised as mini wire haired dachshunds - Gretal and Barbara - many thanks to Joanne Blackburn Bennett & Ellen Blackburn (Stargang) for allowing these miniature characters to create havoc in my home . Also in 2007 Alice arrived in the form of a very cute black & tan mini smooth dachshund from the renowned Siouxline kennel - more of Alice, Gretal & Barbara in the Dachshund pages.
Throughout my life with my dogs, there has been a cat or four along for the ride - last April we had to say goodbye to the last one - Thunder cat - 12 years of pinching my pillow or curled up with Holly in her basket. Another whole that cannot be filled.
After much deliberation it was decided to get a pedigree cat and enter the very different world of cat shows - This is when Ting Tong entered the building! Ting Tong is a Balinese variant and is like no other cat we have ever had the pleasure of living with! Our affair with Balinese cats has just begun - Ting Tong has been joined by Lilly and Princess, two full Balinese cats and I hope create an excellent foundation for Roamanbay Balinese to develop. Many thanks to Carolyn, Angie and Lydia for allowing these elegant cats to share my life.
I am a hobby kennel that is fortunate to have dogs of outstanding temperament, type and personality. I am grateful to all the judges who have thought highly of my hounds and the many friends I have made in the doggy world. May I have continued success in the ring and have as many years as is granted with my special friends.....
I now share my life with Holly, Cooper, Chica, Zazie, Barbara, Gretal, Alice, Rocky, Mimi, Ting Tong, Lilly and Princess - oh and not forgetting Bentley the tortoise.
I hope you enjoy looking around my web site as much as I enjoy showcasing my pets.
